The mission of EXTRAORDINARY DOGS is to rescue dogs trapped in high-kill shelters such as Roswell, give them whatever they need to heal and recuperate, then find them the perfect forever home and or job.  Our strategy and belief is that training and play therapy is important for every dog, but even more so for these “throw away” shelter dogs. We also believe that by educating owners and the general public about canine behavior we can help prevent owner surrenders and reduce unnecessary euthanasia.

Our current focus is Roswell Animal Control in  Roswell, New Mexico, and other high-kill shelters in the southeastern part of New Mexico..

EXTRAORDINARY DOGS INC. is a nonprofit organization registered as a 501(c)3 public charity in New Mexico.  Please remember that our operation and successful rescue and retraining depends on your generosity. ALL contributions go directly to the care of the resident dogs, and are tax deductible.

If you love dogs even half as much as we do and want to participate in saving their lives, here is how you can help:

  1.  Visit your local pound/animal control facility . . . in most communities, this is separate from the local humane society.  Animal control is exactly what the name implies . . . control of animal population and the usual method is euthanasia.  If you want to adopt from Roswell Animal Control, read the information here to better understand the process.
  2. Consider adopting from the pound if you’re looking to add a best friend.  Contrary to some beliefs, the dogs are NOT “damaged goods,” but are instead very clever, resilient and delightful.  All they need is a chance to blossom.
  3. Become a foster for a local rescue organization.  If you live in the Roswell area, contact From Forgotten to Forever Rescue and Transport.
  4. Support only REPUTABLE breeders . . . those who understand genetics, breed only for the betterment of a specific breed, and who have a waiting list of committed owners BEFORE the puppies are even born.
