Perfect dog nutrition is still a mystery. Even the expert canine nutritionists can’t agree among themselves on the best ingredients or even the percentages of fat, protein and carbohydrates.
The market is literally flooded with brands of dog food and pseudoscientific reasons for choosing a specific brand. Some even cite studies that they have conducted and expert marketers know how to pull on the heartstrings of owners to convince them that their advertised brand is the best choice. Adding to this are the labeling requirements by AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials). There is more to understanding a dog food brand than just looking at the list of ingredients and analysis.

Let’s start with the basics, the biology and evolution of the dog, and what nature intended for the dog to eat.
